Just when I thought I’ve already visited all the awesome places along Lilac Marikina, comes this whole strip of foodie places intersecting along Sapphire street, and Mad Mustard’s Hotdog Joint is one of them!

Directions: If you’re coming from outside Marikina and you don’t know where to go, there’s a church called St. Paul of the Cross along Lilac st. and it’s located between two one-way sub-streets: Rainbow and Sapphire. You’ll need to go to Rainbow, go through the church, and exit to Sapphire st. You’ll see Mad Mustard’s panaflex logo right at the exit!

I’ve already spent about a good 30 minutes biking around trying to decide where to eat for dinner. I wanted to try something new, and as fate would have it, comes Mad Mustard- the first legitimate hotdog place in the area! The place looked interesting so it immediately caught my eye.

This hotdog joint is a humble one: your generic square-shaped aluminum tables paired with comfy leather seats, while some others having a grungy barrel-like design. It has both indoor and outdoor areas you can dine at, capable of seating around 20-25 people at once. On the resto’s yellow-themed walls are prints of the first issues of popular DC and Marvel comics such as Batman, The Fantastic Four, The X-Men, etc.

Among their various choices of hotdogs- I asked for their bestseller: the Beer Sausage. Originally, the Beer Sausage is P150, and there’s additional P50 for the Fries and Iced Tea, P25 for the Bacon, and P15 for the Caramelized Onions. So all-in-all my set was P240. The base meal is affordable but it gets pricey as you add additional ingredients- but they’re worth it!

Their iced tea was really good: house blended and not the cheap kind! And of course, no burger or hotdog meal can be complete without the legendary Sriracha Chili Sauce! Just having this bare essential makes me love the restaurant even more. They know what they’re doing and they know what people want.

Here’s the rest of their menu and hotdog prices:

The food was good! Tasty and belly-filling in the least. Even their hotdogs in the P150 mark are authentic: big, juicy and tasty as imported German Franks should be! Will definitely be back here to try out their other hotdogs soon.
