Crazy Katsu- currently the one single katsu specialist in Marikina! Having gained awesome reputation with its pioneering branch settled along Maginhawa St. near the University of the Philippines, it opened a branch here in Marikina just beside the Rancho I gate. This is one of my most recommended places in Lilac!
I’ve lost count how many times I’ve dined here in the past years. It’s that good!
To go there, make your way to Sumulong hi-way either via the intersection along Marcos hi-way, or the other way around via Sta. Lucia and Robonsons malls’ Gil Fernando St. and Marikina sports center. Nearer to Antipolo’s Masinag Market side of Sumulong, make your turn to Soliven St. (Petron gas station), and it will eventually become Lilac St. once you cross the bridge separating Antipolo and Marikina city. Just go straight and you’ll eventually find it on your right just beside Ersao.
First things first: try out their bestselling Chicken Katsu, as everyone would recommend. Their menu doesn’t offer much variety of dieshes, but they will surely compensate it through superb taste and quality.
One thing I really love is their P15 Japanese rice- cheap, but authentic! Order about two or three of those, along with their Chicken Katsu, Miso Soup, and Iced Tea, you’d be one big happy chum for just below 200 PHP! Their service water is real fine too, if anything, as they’re served ice cold.
As for their staff, I can say they’re really accommodating just as any Japanese-inspired establishment should be. I remember the first time we went there- they had no customers at the time, but the moment they saw us grace through the door a few meters away, the three staff stood up from their seats and greeted us with a smile. Talk about making your day all better! Even these little things count to deliver an uber-awesome and unforgettable dining experience. Kudos to Crazy Katsu for maintaining their quality over the years!
